PROTOTYPE HOUSES
Springthorpe Estate . Macleod VIC Australia . Concept 2005

Designed to accommodate significantly sloping sites, these project houses are initially conceived as a series of overlapping platforms that define spaces of varying scale and spatial quality while negotiating natural topography.

An L-shape building form is derived from the overlapping of two distinct planning axis; one for ‘living’ and the other for ‘sleeping’. The more public living axis orientates itself toward the street and ensures the greatest amount of northern sunlight for the living and dining areas. The more private sleeping axis runs parallel to the length of the site boundary, capturing morning sunlight and private views into the rear garden.
